Stream Global Services, a premium business process outsourcing (BPO) provider specializing in sales, customer care and technical support services for many Fortune 1000 companies, has recently inked a partnership with Bayan Telecommunications Inc. (Bayan) to provide the global BPO provider with a Metro Ethernet (ME) backbone.
Stream has acquired a metropolitan access from Bayan to support its migration to a managed MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) network.
MPLS or Multiprotocol Label Switching is a standards-approved technology for speeding up network traffic flow and making it easier to manage. It involves setting up a specific path for a given sequence of packets, identified by a label put in each packet, thus saving the time needed for a router to look up the address to the next node to forward the packet to. In addition to moving traffic faster overall, MPLS makes it easy to manage a network for quality of service (QoS).
Rick Pusag, Vice President, Global IT Operations at Stream Global Services, said Bayantel’s ME backbone will provide full resiliency and redundancy for Stream's contact centers in the Philippines, and will help support reliable network availability for Stream's clients. In addition, Pusag says the ME backbone is another tool to ensure business continuity for Stream's clients by enhancing disaster recovery options between the company's Philippine locations.
Bayan has been serving Stream’s telecommunication services for the last 6 years by providing back-up services for the BPO’s eight sites located in Alabang, Cebu, WCC in Mandaluyong, SM North and Eastwood in Quezon City, PBCom Bldg. in Makati and Clark in Pampanga.
